Residents throughout the Carolinas will be able to experience Washington, D.C. up close and personal when the American Presidential Experience, the largest travelling exhibit of presidential memorabilia, comes to Broadway at the Beach. Appearing for the first time here, the spectacular 10,000-square-foot, non-partisan exhibit invites everyone to learn more about democracy in action through educational exhibits celebrating three centuries of presidential history.
Kicking off the American Presidential Experience will be the arrival of Air Force One at Broadway at the Beach. On Tuesday, June 8 at 1 p.m., a full-sized Boeing aircraft fuselage will arrive on Celebrity Circle and make its way to the Broadway Commons of Broadway at the Beach where it will be on display as part of the American Presidential Experience. The fuselage is replicated as Air Force One that was used for nearly three decades by President John F. Kennedy through President Ronald Reagan.
"Broadway at the Beach is excited to bring the American Presidential Experience to Myrtle Beach," said Sherry Leonard, general manager of Broadway at the Beach. "The exhibit will provide our visitors with a unique opportunity to get an up-close and personal look at the history of the presidency. For three months, they'll have the chance to experience everything from the Oval Office to Air Force One. It's an extraordinary event for Myrtle Beach."
Jim Warlick, curator of the event, says, “The American Presidential Experience is truly an experience where you can touch history. Come aboard Air Force One and experience the grandeur of flying on the world’s most powerful flying office. Sit in the Oval Office and put your hands on the desk given to President Hayes by Queen Victoria. Have your children reach through the windows of the White House.”
The non-partisan exhibit will include a wide variety of items and activities, including life-size replicas of Air Force One, the Oval Office, a collection of first lady gowns, presidential chairs, presidential panels, talking presidential heads, interactive voting stations and much more. The American Presidential Experience will be open to the public in the Broadway Commons Area of Broadway at the Beach from June 12 through September 12 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Ticket prices are $9.95 each for adults, and $7.95 each for children 13-18 years old, senior citizens, first responders, and war veterans/active duty members.
