Whether your day in the Myrtle Beach area involves playing golf, working in an office, lazing on beach or bargain hunting, starting that day with a delicious breakfast will make whatever you're doing happier and more productive. These spots serve superb breakfasts.

Akel's Family Restaurant - 6429 N. Kings Highway, Myrtle Beach, 843-449-4815.

If you like lots of choices, you'll love the Akel's breakfast menu. Pancake varieties include Hawaiian, Banana Nut, Peach Flip and Chocolate Chip; omelets run from vegetarian to sausage; Pecan Waffles are a southern fave; they have good old country ham and eggs, Pigs in Blankets, Breakfast Quesadillas, and Southern sides such as liver pudding, sausage gravy, sliced tomatoes and grits.

Bello Cibo - 115 Willbrook Blvd. in the Litchfield Market Village Square Plaza, Pawleys Island, 843-237-4333.

Morning choices include breakfast sandwiches, bagels, toast and buttered Kaiser rolls. Those breakfast sandwiches can be filled with eggs, bacon, ham and a variety of cheeses. Combination suggestions are in the menu, but customers can have their food exactly the way they like it: mixing and matching is allowed and encouraged.

Coastal Café - 1300 S.C. 544, 843-234-4622.

For breakfast there are three-egg omelets, and pancake choices include Pigs in a Blanket, Banana Nut Stack, Blue or Straw Berry Stack, a Chocolate Lover’s Stack, a Short Stack and a Big Ole Stack. Belgian Waffles and French Toast are also available. Light eaters can opt for one egg and toast, or the Fresh Start with a cup of fruit, cottage cheese and wheat toast. Other choices include Corned beef Hash and Eggs, and the Coastal Special with two eggs, meat (one choice is pork roll), home fries or grits and toast. (Insider tip: Go for the Marble Rye toast. It comes fresh from a local bakery.) Four breakfast sandwich choices are Uncle Wes’s Pork Roll, Egg and Cheese; Steak ‘n’ Egg; Classic Fried Egg; and Kaysie’s Veggie and Egg with bell peppers, onions, jalapenos and tomatoes. A new offering from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays is a $7 breakfast buffet.

The Cypress Room - in Island Vista Resort, 6000 N. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, 888-733-7581

The décor is stunning with its honeyed woods, wrought iron, tapestry fabrics and embossed linens. The long dining room overlooks a beckoning porch with rocking chairs, a lush lawn, dunes topped with sea oats and the ocean. Breakfast standards are here, and a specialty of the house is Sweet Potato Pancakes with Maple Pecan Butter.

Damon's Grill - 2985 S. Ocean Blvd., Myrtle Beach, 843-626-8000

You can enjoy a morning stroll on the beach before choosing items from a breakfast buffet that is served seven days a week starting at 7 a.m. Add a Mimosa or Bloody Mary to the scene, and you have the start of a tranquil day. That breakfast buffet includes an egg station where you can order a custom-designed omelet.

Kudzu Bakery - 120 King Street, Georgetown, 843-546-1847; 221 Willbrook Boulevard, Pawleys Island, 843-235-8560
