The section of the boardwalk from the 14th Avenue Pier to 4th Avenue North is open. The remaining three blocks, from Fourth Avenue North to First Avenue North, are still under construction but should be completed by early June, the city said.

City officials hope the boardwalk will draw visitors to the downtown Myrtle Beach area. A new Beach Music Festival will be hosted along the boardwalk in May.

I spent the winter in Myrtle Beach this year! I guess you would call me a snowbird!  Before the grand opening I walked on the new boardwalk!  It was very refreshing with ample benches for seating along the way!  My brother-in-law is in a wheelchair and it gave him the opportunity to stroll along the beach with us!  Great addition to the Myrtle Beach area!
