Breakers Resort Offers Ideal Location and Price for World Am Competitors

Location, location, location.

As much as you'll be whispering these words to yourself with each approach shot you take in the 2007 PGA TOUR Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship, you should already be focused on it if you haven't yet chosen your lodging.

With its ideal central location to the courses you'll play by day (and entertainment venues you'll frequent by night), The Breakers Resort offers plenty of what you'll need for your five-night stay in Myrtle Beach. More than 700 feet of oceanfront await - and with an ocean-view rate special for World Am participants at about 50 bucks a head per night, you'll be hard-pressed to beat the price as you visit the Grand Strand during its peak summer season.

Step outside before your morning round, and a Starbucks Coffee shop beckons from across the street - complete with free wireless Internet access, to e-mail your buddies back home about how Johnny six-putted from five feet.

Johnny will make up for it by buying a round of drinks or two at SOHO, the trendy sushi joint and bar around the corner (406 21st Ave. N.; 843-443-9441). By many accounts they've got great seafood, serve up a heavyweight collection of imported beers and offer a daily happy hour from 3-6 p.m. that typically includes $2 domestic bottles and $2 vodka drinks.

A more casual atmosphere - discarded-peanut-shells-on-the-floor casual, to be more accurate - awaits next door at River City Café, where you'll find some of the best burgers on the Beach. And if you don't feel like eating and people watching from the front patio, they've got a full take-out menu available.

And with a very short walk south on Ocean Boulevard, Bummz Beach Café offers up tremendous casual fare with seaside dining; tropical adult beverages with live music playing on the outside patio; and regular karaoke sessions sure to entertain or sufficiently embarrass.

Check out The Breakers' full slate of specials at their specials Web page, and good luck at the World Am - both on and off the course!

Haven’t been to Soho yet so I can’t tell you much about it, but I’d imagine that River City is a great fallback option for grabbing a quick bite to eat.  The burgers there ARE good, and you can always grab a brewski or two while your there.
