Celebrities, Bikini’s and Corvettes Oh My!

Driving down Ocean Boulevard over the weekend I was forced to look twice at what was formerly an empty beach lot. Doing a double take I curiously slowed my vehicle and rechecked my senses. Sure enough, the lot was empty no more. Gazing at what could only be a huge pile of sand I realized it was indeed…a huge pile of sand. Initially confused it took a moment to register before I realized once again that time of year had come. A mega ton of sand can only mean one thing—Sun Fun is here once again.

May31st to June 4th kicks off the 56th annual Sun Fun Festival here in Myrtle beach and sponsored by everyone’s favorite tanning product it can’t help but be smokin’ hot! Let Hawaiian Tropic put a little motion in your lotion with hot ladies, hot cars, hot celebrities and even a little bit of family fun!

Win a Toyota, win a pageant crown or just enjoy all the action and fun you know the beach can offer! The annual Miss Sun Fun, Teen Sun Fun and Miss Bikini Wahine are all preliminaries to the Miss South Carolina contest so you can imagine the bikini clad girls that will be prancing around the stage. So women shave your legs and slap on some bronzer and load up on the lip gloss and compete to be the new Grand Strand Guide with your poise, personality and though they neglect to say it—bangin’ bod! If you’ve got legs…and you know how to use them; you can try for the Sun Fun Miss Legs Contest, and god only know what you’ll win! So if you are a leg-man (or woman) enjoy bikini’s (with poise and personality of course) or just love a good show join Hawaiian Tropic at Socastee High and party down with former Miss USA’s from years past! Come on, at least check them out and see how they’ve aged! Oh but don’t worry, no Tara Conner so it’s still decidedly a family friendly event!

If coconut oil and bleached hair aren’t your thing check out a whole other kinda curve at the Corvette Car Show. Nothing’s hotter than some vintage shiny chrome and the roar of a powerful engine. Broadway at the Beach hosts this event and it’s always free to look, though owners sometimes object to drool.
Revving motors and driving gloves not doing it for you? How about water sports and stunt tricks? High-speed racing and daredevil stunts will amaze and awe you throughout the weekend on the beach with the Annual Surf and Turf Jet Ski Racing Championship taking place off Springmaid Beach!

If you are prone to star gazing instead you have definitely come to the right place and from every possible show you can imagine. It’s soap star meets football hall of famer! Mario Lopez from Dancing with the Stars (and everyone’s favorite: Saved By The Bell), Don Diamont and Christian LeBlanc of The Young and the Restless, Joe Greene of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kiely Williams and Adrienne Bailon of the Cheetah Girls and my personal favorite: Dora the Explorer (come on she’s a cartoon, you HAVE to be curious how that works!) They will all be partying down at Plyler Park signing autographs and mingling with us common folk!

With that all being said there’s a million 12 other events going on this weekend that you are just going to have to check out for yourself! See the attempt at the world’s largest sandcastle, compete in the Legos building contest, play some horseshoes, ride a fire truck or just kick back and take advantage of a bevy of free concert events.

The weekend is set to be beautiful so check it out and have some fun in the sun at Sun Fun Festival!
