After winning the Big South Tournament title this past weekend, the Chanticleers have ridden a late-season surge to earn the number four national seed in the NCAA Tournament. As one of the nation’s top eight seeds, Coastal Carolina can parlay a regional championship into a chance to then host an NCAA Super Regional – the winner of which would advance to the 2010 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
This weekend, the Chanticleers will welcome the College of Charleston (42-17), North Carolina State (38-22) and Stony Brook (29- 25) for the regional. They face Stony Brook Friday, June 4 at 1 p.m. in the first game, while The College of Charleston and North Carolina State square off at 7 p.m.
Coastal Carolina seeks to “Fill BB&T with Teal,” offering fans a chance to cheer one of the nation’s premier college baseball programs. Coastal Carolina is ranked as high as third in the Collegiate Baseball and NCBWA polls, the highest such ranking in Chanticleer history. Coastal is also fourth in the ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches’ poll, fifth in the Baseball America poll and sixth in the Rivals.com and Ping! Baseball polls.
