Dunes Golf & Beach Club Tops Inaugural Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25

The Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, the Grand Strand’s leading course review Web site, Friday released its inaugural “Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25” list – with Dunes Golf & Beach Club earning top honors in this new, monthly rankings report.

The rankings are determined by golfers who submit their post-play reviews for publication on the Golf Insider’s Web site, www.MBGolfInsider.com. They are based on the aggregate scores of each participating golfer’s review, where golfers rate on a 10-point scale their course experience in each of six categories: greens, fairways, tees, pro shop, grill and staff.

Thistle Golf Club, Tiger’s Eye Golf Links, King's North at Myrtle Beach National and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club round out the top 5 for June 2010.

The complete Top 25 for this month was completed on June 17, with scoring ties separated by total number of reviews for each course (indicated in parentheses):

The Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25 represents a broad consensus of opinion based on thousands of golfer reviews – more than 2,000 alone since January, according to Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Editor Jim Maggio. But with the closeness of the rankings (the top 25 courses listed here separated by less than one full ratings point), combined with the high volume of reviews feeding this list, readers can expect plenty of scoring and rankings movement with each monthly update.

“We congratulate the 25 courses who earned their way into our initial rankings,” Maggio said. “It speaks volumes of the overall quality of golf experience that each course has provided.

“But as we speak, there are plenty of other high-quality courses knocking at the door, and we expect to see a number of them make their Top 25 debut in the July rankings. It will be fun to watch.”
