The Georgetown Lunch Rotary announces the 4th Annual Shag Festival to be held on Saturday, May 2, 7-11:30 p.m. The event, now in its fourth year, has quickly become a favorite to many locals who enjoy an evening with our state dance.
"Location back by popular demand, this year's shag festival will be a street dance on King Street in Downtown Georgetown," says festival chair Keith Wilson. "We expect another capacity crowd and are thrilled to announce that we will be dancing to the popular sound of The Craig Woolard Band. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for a wonderful evening that results in a significant contribution to Alzheimer's Research and other community projects."
Food and beverage will be available on site throughout the evening. For those who need a shag refresher course, come at 6 p.m. for the lesson before the band begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets are on sale and may be purchased at the Georgetown and Pawleys Island Chamber offices, and the UPS Store on Highmarket in Georgetown. They are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Tickets may also be purchased from any member of the Georgetown Lunch Rotary club. Several sponsorship opportunities are available.
