Get the Drift?

Myrtle Beach Speedway is home to more than Saturday night stock-car racing. For the past three years, it's also played host to monthly "drifting" events that offer a unique variation to traditional auto racing.

According to Wikipedia, "Drifting refers to a driving technique ... where the driver intentionally oversteers, causing loss of traction in the rear wheels through turns, while preserving vehicle control and a high exit speed." It looks something like this:

The Speedway's next drifting event is set for Sunday, May 3, and costs $75 per driver, $10 each for spectators and $5 additional for riders. Kids 12 and under get in free. Check out the rest of the 2009 schedule here, or to get more information.
