Bike week in Myrtle Beach isn't automatically synonymous with golf - but for a growing number, it's getting there.
Coming off its successful run at Indian Wells during last year's fall rally, organizers of the 2007 Hooters & Hogs Wide Open Golf Tournament expect a big turnout for tomorrow's event, which has expanded to two courses - Burning Ridge and Black Bear, with each already having 100 and 60 golfers signed up, respectively.
Best of all, it's not too late to join the action. And if you're impulsive, or simply want to play but didn't bring your clubs, never fear - RENTAL CLUBS are certainly here, and available for $25 per player.
Otherwise, the entry fee is $75 per player ($300 per four-person team) for a four-person captain's choice format, and includes golf, soft drinks, a golfer gift pack and other prizes. If you don't have enough for a foursome, don't worry about that, either - they'll pair you up.
The hole-in-one prize? How 'bout a 2008 Harley-Davidson V-Rod? And if you don't feel like golfing, come anyway because they'll be partying in the parking lot with Hooters custom bikes on display.
A portion of the proceeds from the Burning Ridge tournament will benefit The First Tee of Myrtle Beach, while the Black Bear tourney will support the Waccamaw Youth Center. The event is presented by Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson, Martin's PGA Tour SuperStore and Classic Golf Group.
