Internet Restaurant Concept Set to Open in Myrtle Beach

Imagine a restaurant or bar that allows you to order your meal by touch screen from your table, then watch your favorite sports team from one of more than 100 available television monitors.

But you hate the Yankees, and they're in the only game scheduled that night while your beloved Red Sox ... Tigers ... or any other "favorite team that doesn't begin with a 'Y'" has the night off.

Want to play Nintendo Wii instead while you wait for your hot wings? Or perhaps you'd rather listen to Raw Dog Comedy on Sirius Satellite Radio while your wife scours YouTube to find that viral video that everyone in the office has been talking about.

Did I mention that this place is geared toward the "big kids" like you - particularly the 21-39 age group - while the "little kids" hang at home with the babysitter that night?

At some point late this summer, you won't have to imagine. It becomes reality when iBar Myrtle Beach opens on Restaurant Row.

Heard this week from X Garrison III of IG Development Inc. and iBar USA, which saw Myrtle Beach as the ideal destination to test this new hospitality concept. Garrison told The Beach Blog that iBar will offer all these technological amenities, and more, from a three-story building that will also feature the area's first rooftop bar.

"iBar will specialize in providing great food and drinks alongside the latest in current and emerging entertainment technology," said Garrison. Among its many features, iBar will offer:

  • Interactive ordering
  • Free Internet access
  • Online gaming, including PlayStation3, Xbox360, and Nintendo Wii gaming lounges and public competition events
  • Internet and satellite audio/video feeds
  • Large format video screens

In addition, Garrison also notes that the venue will serve a full bar as well as non-alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, and bottled water. A casual food menu consisting of appetizers and entrees ranging from $4 - $12 will also be available. The initial hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., seven days a week.

You can check iBar's progress on the live Web cam feed from its Web site. In the meantime, let us know what you think of the iBar concept, and if it's the type of place that will suit your entertainment needs.
