As firefighting crews reached 80 percent containment of the Horry County wildfires Friday evening, the local media announced a collaborative fund-raising effort to aid its victims.
CarolinaLive.com reported Friday evening that the local media community is coming together on Tuesday, April 28, at the Myrtle Beach Mall to accept donations all day in support of the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Monetary donations will be accepted that day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Mall's parking lot.
CarolinaLive.com points out that a similar event held in 2005 to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina raised more than $270,000, and is calling on the public's help to give generously again - this time, to help folks right here at home when they need it most.
