May Jam-Packed with Fun in Myrtle Beach

From a Beach Music Festival on the new boardwalk to free outdoor concerts and films to a giant parade led by the second man on the moon, May is a great time to bring the family to the beach. Here's a sampling of events coming up:

Arts & Film Celebration

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 1. Former Myrtle Square Mall site, Kings Highway between 23rd and 27th Avenues North. Free.

Free outdoor movies: “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” on the big screen. Celebrity meet-and-greets with “Twilight” star Alex Meraz and Catherine Bell of “Army Wives,” and performances by legendary blues man Buddy Guy and more.

Beach Music Festival

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Downtown Myrtle Beach between 8th and 9th Avenues North. Free.

Watch TLC's “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro, create a giant flip-flop cake and see live performances by solo artist Ben E. King, The Embers, Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs and more. Plus, the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade Ribbon Cutting.

Beach Blast! Christian Music Festival

2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 22. Former Myrtle Square Site, Kings Highway between 23rd and 27th Avenues North. Tickets on sale.

Myrtle Beach's largest Christian music festival features Toby Mac, Kutless and more.

Memorial Day Weekend 2010

May 28 - 31

Buzz Aldrin, NASA Astronaut and “Dancing With The Stars” celebrity, will lead the Memorial Day Parade. “American Idol” Season 6 Winner Jordin Sparks and several Disney stars, including Mitchell Musso of “Hannah Montana” are scheduled to perform free concerts.
