Let’s take a moment out of our busy schedules and celebrate our Northern neighbors eh? They have brought us such treasures as Labatt’s beer, Strange Brew, great hockey, maple syrup and oh so much more. But for those contributions alone Canada, we salute you! Myrtle Beach is celebrating it’s annual Canadian-American Days from March 10-18th and has a jam packed schedule of events certain to keep everyone entertained. We love Canada and welcome y’all to the Myrtle Beach area with open arms!
Scheduled to align with Ontario’s school holiday (who knew?) this week-long celebration is alive with entertainment, music, dancing, and food. There’s a ton of events but here I’ll highlight a few…
Get your dancing shoes on Saturday to kickoff the event with the National Shag competition or enjoy a robust glass of wine and music of the past at La Belle Amie Vineyard for their ‘Remember When Oldies Music Fest’.
Brass, Mozart, or Elvis eh? That is the quandary for Sunday, when a variety of concerts are presented, throughout Myrtle Beach, or even check out the Can-Am Soccer Tournament at the local YMCA.
Monday offers ‘No Strings Attatched’ Big Band performance from Burlington, Ontario provided at the Lakewood Camping Resort who hosts the annual Can-Am Reception.
Conway loves Canada on March 13th and has a variety of historic and culture filled events scheduled downtown with free tours, live music, and family fun. And kids will love the various events scheduled at both Myrtle Beach or Huntington State Parks.
Don’t miss ‘A Salute to Canada' Military Concert sponsored by the General Consulate of Canada or check out one of the great car shows being hosted in the area.
And I'd recommend visiting the Taste of Murrell's Inlet for some great free food, while watching the children complete in Can-Am Little Olympics and Wendy's International Kitefest, all located on the beach.
What better way to wind the weekend down with a bang than sharing some good old country music as LoneStar rocks The Palace Theatre.
Overall looking at the schedule the week is bursting with activities, entertainment, and promotions and looks to be a ton of family fun! So let’s take a moment out and enjoy Canada: full of beautiful preserved natural scenery, diverse yet harmonious culture, and let’s not forget really fake looking money! In celebration of the red and white visiting us here in the Palmetto State, share a Canadian memory here eh?
And how could you forget Canadian bacon (isn’t it really ham?), Pamela Anderson, and quarters that look almost like ours but won’t fit in a vending machine? The Canadians have brought us so much, it’s time we celebrate Myrtle Beach style. Enjoy all our neighbors to the North have to offer this week without the hassle of trying to find your ID while intoxicated so you can show it to a surely Border Guard on your way back into the good ole’ USofA.
How can you not raise a toast to a country that gave us John Candy? Don’t be a hoser, and have fun this week!
For the fact alone that our Canadian friends do so much to help our local economy this time of year, let’s definitely raise a glass in thanks!
