Myrtle Beach Golf, LLC, a division of the Myrtle Beach National Company, has confirmed that it is in ongoing discussions with Legends Group to formalize a partnership between the two companies.
Myrtle Beach Golf owns and operates nine golf courses in the area (Long Bay Golf Club, Aberdeen Country Club, Waterway Hills Golf Club, West Course at Myrtle Beach National, SouthCreek at Myrtle Beach National, King's North at Myrtle Beach National, River Club, Willbrook Plantation Golf Club, and Litchfield Country Club) and manages a 10th (Blackmoor Golf Club). Legends Group consists of four courses it owns and operates (Legends Heathland, Legends Moorland, Legends Parkland, and The Heritage Club) and two it leases or manages (Oyster Bay Golf Links and TPC Myrtle Beach).
"At this point, we're researching how these two companies can work together," said Jim Woodring, vice president of marketing and golf operations, the Myrtle Beach National Company. "Upon completion, a partnership would provide economies of scale that will allow all golf courses involved to operate most effectively and efficiently, and give the combined group the benefit of each company's specialties in the Myrtle Beach golf market. This is especially important in dealing with the unique economic challenges that all businesses face as they look to the future."
No timetable has been announced for completion of negotiations; the Myrtle Beach National Company will release an update as developments warrant.
