The football program at Myrtle Beach High School has rocketed to national prominence in the past two weeks, climbing to No. 11 in the USA Today Super 25 rankings this week after Friday's 49-13 victory at West Florence.
The Seahawks made their debut in the national rankings the previous week, after an upset win on the road over then-8th ranked Byrnes vaulted them to the No. 13 spot.
While the Seahawks have made their mark on offense in recent years, led by record-setting quarterback Everett Golson (now at Notre Dame), this season has already been marked by stellar defensive and special teams play in addition to its high scoring output. In all, it makes for a most entertaining mix that football fans of all ages can enjoy in person, right here on the Grand Strand.
Myrtle Beach returns home this Friday to play South Florence at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
