“Nights of a Thousand Candles” Captures Holiday Magic

Tonight and Saturday night are your last opportunities for the year to experience Nights of a Thousand Candles, the spectacular holiday lights festival at Brookgreen Gardens. With expanded hours this year from 3 to 10 p.m., you can arrive before dusk to enjoy an early-bird dinner special before strolling this one-of-a-kind landscape and taking in a yuletide experience you won’t soon forget.

Carolers and musicians stroll the grounds to add to the ambience, with the following schedule of performances:

Friday, December 14

  • Rocky Fretz plays a variety of tunes on his baby grand piano at 4:30, 6:30 & 9 p.m. (45-minute sets)
  • Vocal Edition sings holiday favorites at 5:30, 6:30 & 7:30 p.m.
  • Bill Oberst, Jr. in his one-man rendition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. (one hour)
  • Ron Daise performs Gullah Christmas Stories - 5:30 p.m.
  • Pawleys Island Flute Choir – 4, 5, 6 & 7 p.m.
  • Michael Williams on the Kalimba – 8 & 9 p.m.
  • Katherine McKiblin & Mitzie Goodie, Cello-Flute Duet – 8:30 & 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, December 15
