It's been quite a spring for Pawleys Plantation, as the national and regional accolades for this and several courses along the Waccamaw Golf Trail just keep on coming.
Within the past few months alone, Pawleys Plantation has been included among the "100 Must-Play Courses of the Carolinas" by GolfStyles Carolina and "America's Top Golf Courses 2007/2008" by Zagat®; and profiled in the April 2007 edition of Golf Business as "one of Myrtle Beach's elite venues."
The honors for Pawleys Plantation come amid an ambitious, five-year renovation plan that serves as the focus of the Golf Business article. "We are very pleased with our results so far and several reviewers from prominent rating panels have complimented us on the course conditioning," said Laura Rippy, general manager of Pawleys Plantation, in a recent press release. "We have been able to maintain the delicate balance of undergoing a major renovation project without closing the course or disrupting play. Our goal is to exceed golfers expectations of the course, and to do this, we're working hard to deliver pristine conditioning."
Pawleys Plantation is one of nine Waccamaw Golf Trail courses to crack GolfStyles Carolina's "100 Must-Play" list, which also includes:
Three of these courses (Caledonia, Heritage and True Blue) were also included in "America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses 2007-2008."
Each course along the Waccamaw Trail brings its own unique, entertaining element. I discovered one while playing yesterday at River Club, which sports some of the best-conditioned bentgrass greens you'll find anywhere.

Playing in Pawleys is like playing in another world. And I mean that in a good way. If you planned your whole golf trip just around playing in that area you’ll still go home very happy.
