Get ready for a month of heavy political action on the Grand Strand, folks. The presidential debates and primaries are almost upon us, and there’s still a chance to take part in the debate festivities.
As of Friday evening, tickets for the South Carolina Republican Party Presidential Candidates Debate next Thursday, Jan. 10 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, were available through the state Republican Party’s Web site.
Along with individual tickets to the debate at $150 each, admission to the First-in-the-South Celebration Dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Myrtle Beach Sheraton was also available at $75 per person. FOX News personality Sean Hannity will be the featured speaker.
The Republican debate will be broadcast by FOX News Channel from 9 to 10:30 p.m. on the 10th, with Brit Hume moderating and Wendell Goler and Chris Wallace asking questions.
On the Democratic side, the Sun News’ Politick-tock blog reports that if you’re still looking for tickets to the Democratic Presidential debate on Monday, Jan. 21 at The Palace Theater, you’re out of luck. That event is invitation-only, according to the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
You can still catch that debate on the 21st on CNN, which will air the proceedings from 8 to 10 p.m. with Wolf Blitzer moderating, and Joe Johns and Suzanne Malveaux grilling the candidates.
In the meantime, here’s wishing all our political visitors a very pleasant stay in the Myrtle Beach area!
Update: It seems that every time I post a new update, things change.
