Remember the Troops This Holiday Season

The Grand Strand Detachment 873 of the Marine Corps League is collecting much-needed items for troops in Iraq through a project called Operation Rudolph II. The City of North Myrtle Beach has two drop off locations for Operation Rudolph II - the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center (Possum Trot Rd.) and Fire Station #1 (2nd Ave. S.). Donations can be brought to these locations through Christmas Eve.

Operation Rudolph II is looking for the following items for donations: baby wipes, ballpoint pens, bath powder, beef jerky, DVDs, body spray, body wash, books, canned meat, chips (cylinder cans), cookies, deodorant, dried fruit, emery boards, envelopes, feminine hygiene products, foot powder, fruit cups (plastic), greeting cards, gum, conditioner, hair gel, shampoo, hand sanitizers, hard candy, tissues, lotion, magazines, moisturizing bath soap, nuts, paperback books, peanut butter, prepaid telephone cards, Q-tips, razors, shower sponges, small games, small mirrors, snack packs, socks, sunglasses, sunscreen, tooth brushes, tooth paste, tuna & chicken (canned or bagged) and writing paper.

The Marine Corps League will continue to collect items for troops after the holidays. If you cannot stop by a donation drop off location or if you can make a donation after Dec. 24, please call Tommy Kerila at (843) 907-1402 or at (843) 399-4913.
