As a big fan of King’s North – and “The Gambler” at No. 6, in particular – I and many other Myrtle Beach golfers will take particular delight in watching the Euros and Americans tackle an eerily similar challenge when they approach No. 7 at Valhalla:

It’s one thing when this type of risk/reward feature has bragging rights at stake between you and your golfing buddies. It’s quite another when the decisions on how to play it could very well be the deciding factor in which team wins one of sports’ most coveted trophies.
All I know is, on my best day, I’m hitting the back end of the island fairway on The Gambler … leaving myself about 160 yards to the pin … and still letting my nerves get the best of me as an otherwise easy 6-iron finds the water a good 10 yards shy of the green.
So how will I react when I see the first Ryder Cup player find the drink at Valhalla No. 7?
”Geez … even I could have made that shot …”
