Surfside Beach All-Stars Advance in Dixie Youth Baseball World Series
Buck Bacot pitched a no-hitter Sunday evening as the Surfside Beach All-Star Team defeated Charlotte County, Virginia 1-0 in the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series in Laurel, Mississippi.
The victory puts Surfside at 2-0 for the tournament, and advances them to the third-round winners bracket game Monday night versus the winner of Sunday night's game between Goodlettsville, Tennessee and Searcy, Arkansas.
Surfside Beach won the South Carolina Dixie Youth Majors State Tournament July 30 to advance to the World Series, becoming the first Horry County team in 30 years to win the state title. They join teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida in the double-elimination tournament, which runs until Thursday, Aug. 13.
