Terry’s Top 10: “It’s SO Hot …”

Terry’s Top 10: “It’s SO Hot …”

By Terry Massey

Monday marked the first official day of summer and Myrtle Beach already feels hotter than Hades on the Fourth of July. It's like we've been pre-heating all spring. What in the name of Piotrowski is going on here? We have a steady diet of 90-something-degree days and THEN it's the start of summer? We're in for a hot one. But nothing cools the mind and body like a little humidity humor, so we're accepting donations to the "It's SO hot ..." contest. I've come up with 10 of my own:

10) Ben & Jerry's at Broadway at the Beach is now serving soup instead of scoops.

9) Worms are begging local anglers to take them fishing and they are catching fried fish off the piers.

8) The Palace Theatre canceled "Sesame Street On Ice" over concerns that Big Bird might drown.

7) Local emergency officials are considering turning Myrtle Waves into a relief shelter.

6) The carp at the Broadway at the Beach lake are now waiting for the fish food to sink to the bottom.

5) The hotel pools have turned into giant hot tubs and the ice machines have become small swimming pools.

4) Tourists are using ice cream instead of sun screen and going to the hotel sauna to cool off.

3) The beachwear stores are selling wet T-shirts and the hermit crabs have installed AC in their shells.

2) The restaurants are serving instant sun tea and coldcakes instead of pancakes that are selling like hotcakes.

1) The city is considering moving the Sun Fun Festival to the Sun for a cooler climate.
