The “Champ” In Myrtle Beach

Former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, James “Bonecrusher” Smith is headed to Myrtle Beach in September to host a celebrity golf tournament to create a scholarship fund for students of Horry Georgetown Technical College. The event will be held at the Legends Moorland course on Sunday, September 9th and a pre event party will be held at the 2001 Nightclub on Saturday, September 8th. The recently renovated Caravelle Resort will be the host accommodations provider for the event and is currently offering participant packages for $349 per person, including two nights accommodations, entry to the golf tournament and pre event party, as well as welcome gifts.

“Bonecrusher” was the first heavyweight boxing champion to have earned a college degree, and has long been an advocate for education. “I have been actively involved in creating scholarship programs for several years with my Champion for Kids program, because education is what provides a solid foundation for a child’s future. I have been blessed with a successful boxing career, but without education, I would not be able to give back to others like I have.” Other celebrity entrants in the event are: baseball Hall of Famer Lou Brock; Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers; Super Bowl Champions Dave Duerson and Tim McKyer; Ohio State Football Hall of Famer and Cincinnati Bengal Pete Johnson; NFL Pro Bowler Michael Dean Perry, and many more! For tournament and package information contact the Caravelle Resort at 1-800-845-0893.
