Nothing to do for the July 4th weekend? Then you’re not trying really hard, are you?
There’s plenty going on throughout the Grand Strand this weekend to celebrate our country’s independence. Here’s a quick rundown.
The Market Common boast a full slate of Independence Weekend activities, including:
*July 2: Friday Night Live with Bud Light Lime & Weekly Surge presents the latest installment of its free concert series, this week featuring The Josh Brannon Band from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Valor Park. Call 843-839-3500 for more information.
*July 3: Features the Independence Day 8K and Freedom 5K runs. The 8K starts at 7 a.m., while the 5K begins an hour later. Runners can pick up their packets and register on Friday, July 2, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Valor Park (in conjunction with the concert series). Visit the event Web site for more information.
*July 3-4: The Italian Festival and Independence Day event at Valor Park features Italian food, live music, and crafts throughout the weekend, capped by a spectacular fireworks display on Sunday at 9 p.m. Larry Tanelli (“Dean Martin” from “Dino’s TV Variety Show”), the Blues Brothers from Legends in Concert, young singing sensation Gabbie Rae, a spaghetti eating contest and plenty of Italian music are all on tap. Call 843-839-3500 for more information.
If you plan on going your “Separate Ways” on Saturday, Hard Rock Café is hosting its own free concert outside in Celebrity Square at Broadway at the Beach, featuring renowned Journey tribute band FRONTIERS at 10 p.m. If you didn’t think a Steve Perry soundalike could exist, you’re in for a surprise with this show.
Or, you can go the more laid-back route at La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, which is hosting its Independence Music Blast on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. Live music, wine, food and just hangin’ with friends are the order of the day – with crafters, a vineyard tour, prizes and wine tastings mixed in for good measure. Admission is $10, and you can get $3 off if you bring two non-perishable food items to support the local food bank. Call 843-399-WINE for more information.
Among Sunday’s many Independence Day celebrations are Surfside Beach’s “4th of July Celebration at the Pier” starting at 6 p.m., and the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade beginning at 1 p.m. Be sure to get your spot along the Marshwalk early for this big-crowd event!
You didn’t think we’d forget about the fireworks, did you? We’ve got you covered! Just click here for a listing of shows from North Myrtle Beach to Murrells Inlet.
This isn’t everything going on this weekend – but it’s a heck of a start for your “to-do” list, don't you think? Enjoy the holiday, and be safe!
