Winyah Bay Festival Celebrates Rich Heritage

Winyah Bay Festival Celebrates Rich Heritage

The Winyah Bay Heritage Festival returns to Georgetown next week, with a full slate of events scheduled for January 14-16, 2011.

The Festival celebrates the rich history of the Winyah Bay area, with an emphasis on conservation, preservation, art, hunting, fishing, decoy carving and other unique traditions.

It unites wildlife artists, a variety of unique exhibitors, outdoor lovers of all sorts and collectors from across the nation. The festival takes place in various locations throughout Georgetown County, and proceeds benefit the Georgetown County Historical Society and the Georgetown County Museum.

The 2011 festival features the most exciting lineup of events in its young history, including the Dixie Dock Dogs, an affiliate club of DockDogs, Inc., a non-profit organization that benefits different canine charities. The group promotes the canine sport of dock diving throughout the Southeast, and membership is open to anyone with any breed, size or age dog.

Tickets may be purchased online, or by calling the Georgetown County Museum at 843-545-7020.
