Your July 4th Myrtle Beach Celebration Starter Kit

The forecast leading up to Independence Day calls for sunny skies, temps in the mid-80s ... and LOTS of events and activities to keep your July 4th vacation week busy, busy, busy! Allow us here at The Beach Blog to offer some initial ideas for the holiday celebration ...

Longtime Myrtle Beach amusement revelers get to relive their Pavilion past, as the Pavilion Nostalgia Park opens next week at Broadway at the Beach. Tickets for the Nostalgia Park's 10 rides and attractions start at $3 each, and discounts are available for bulk purchases. Admission to the park is free - and before you leave for the night, stick around for Broadway's spectacular (and also free!) fireworks display at 10 p.m. on both July 3rd and July 4th.

It's gonna be crowded here next week regardless, but if you want to avoid the crush of humanity for fireworks at Broadway, there's also the spectacular free display at Second Avenue Pier that Sarah told you about earlier this month.

Looking for a diversion that's a little more sedate, but no less entertaining? Check out "Cool Summer Evenings" at Brookgreen Gardens, which features live entertainment, cruises down the creek and dinner at the Pavilion Restaurant. The program has the Gardens stay open extended hours (until 9 p.m.) Wednesdays through Fridays, through August 17. Brookgreen's July 4th offering brings their weekly play, "Aaron and Theodosia," at 7:30 p.m. in the Live Oak Allee.

Independence Day on the Grand Strand links brings plenty of choices. S. Adam Cardais at WorldGolf.com offers his suggestions, along with some additional fun events and activities to keep you busy on the 4th.

Staying home to party? Liven up your holiday backyard barbecue with these creative grilling twists from Johanna Wilson at The Sun News. Beer can chicken, anyone?

Somehow, though, I get the idea that you've got lots more ideas for next week. Share them with us here at The Beach Blog ... and have a happy and safe July 4th celebration!
