Hard Rock Park Announces Attractions

World’s First Rock ‘n’ Roll Theme Park Gets Set to Travel the Long and Winding Road that Leads to Myrtle Beach

(Myrtle Beach, S.C. – April 9, 2007) – Get ready to “Let the Good Times ROLL.” Hard Rock Park, the world’s first rock ‘n’ roll theme park, has broken ground and is ready to make some noise as the first new major attraction to be built in the U.S. in nearly a decade. Slated to open in Myrtle Beach in spring 2008, Hard Rock Park will celebrate the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll through a myriad of unprecedented rides and attractions, marking the single largest tourism investment in South Carolina’s history.

Hard Rock Park will be an approximately 140-acre theme park boasting more than 40 attractions for rockers of all ages, including roller coasters, shows, children’s play areas, restaurants, cafes and retail stores, a multi-purpose live music amphitheatre, and ultra-modern sound system specifically developed for the project, creating a totally immersive full day experience.

“We’ve been dreaming up Hard Rock Park for the last few years and we can’t wait to start showing people what they can expect to experience.” says Steven Goodwin, CEO of Hard Rock Park, “From the innovative technology to develop the rides and the entertainment experience to the truly priceless memorabilia we will have on display and special events we will host, visitors can expect a new standard of fun to rock fans of all ages.”

Music will set the tune in coasters including Maximum RPM!, a convertible car-coaster that races to 80s new age hits and Midnight Rider, a Southern Rock roller coaster that careens through a creepy abandoned lumber mill. Children’s play areas abound, including Reggae River Falls, a whimsical Jamaican-themed water play area and Garage Jam! a foam ball play-station.

There are restaurants galore catering to everyone’s taste such as Carnaby Street Café, a 60s joint featuring gigantic lava lamps and traditional British fare. Live entertainment and shows are around every corner and the “crew” hasn’t been forgotten with the Roadies Stunt Show, a high-action comedy staring heavy metal riggers performing astounding acrobatics and pyrotechnics. A specially designed amphitheatre will accommodate touring acts, concerts and special events.

Take a break from the action as each area combines quiet respites with tribute areas, play elements and strolling paths. Guests can explore creative retail stores that are attractions unto themselves like Mainstreet Gas & Gifts, an old gas station converted to a surf shop where antique glass gas pumps becoming kid-powered whirlpools. All of the Park’s offerings are blanketed in an ultra-modern sound system specifically developed for the project and numerous “discoveries” and Hard Rock memorabilia creating a totally immersive full day experience.

Note: The flagship brand of Hard Rock has also been joined by iconic rock legends for the creation of one-of-a-kind attractions and features that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

Hard Rock Park will feature six distinct “rock environs” celebrating rock’s culture, lifestyle, legends and irreverence:

  • All Access Entry Plaza – A cluster of “people friendly” piazzas that provide vibrant shopping venues and public spaces designed in a blend of mission and warehouse styles
  • Rock & Roll Heaven – An oasis of rock, explores the feelings and emotions “behind the music” - the influences, the legends and the vibrations that stir the soul
  • British Invasion – Celebrates rock ‘n’ roll English style. The look and feel of London creates a backdrop to explore rock’s most influential artists and musical genres Lost in the 70’s – A large indoor mall where Britannia and America converge in the eclectic mix of Punk, Disco and Glam that dominated the 70’s
  • Born in the USA – Salutes the birthplace and “melting pot” of rock: an American tapestry of exciting styles as diverse as the people that live from “sea to shining sea”
  • Cool Country – Expresses a distinctively American form of music and its incredible lasting popularity, particularly in the South!

The Hard Rock Park Road to Myrtle Beach Tour

Beginning today, Hard Rock Park will hit the road in true rock fashion and embark on a six-city tour designed to spread news of Myrtle Beach’s newest attraction. Dubbed “The Hard Rock Park Road to Myrtle Beach Tour,” which will be a traveling exhibition headlined by The Beatles’ beloved Magical Mystery Tour Bus, which represents the first piece of memorabilia donated to the Park by Hard Rock International. The tour will visit Hard Rock Cafes in major East Coast cities and collect pieces of rock memorabilia from each. Representing a bit of musical history from their respective cities, the memorabilia will ultimately find a permanent home within the Park for all to enjoy. Items such as a wall from the iconic underground rock venue, CBGB’s will be donated by the New York cafe, while a white studded cape owned and worn on stage by Elvis Presley will be presented to the Park by the cafe in Memphis.

As part of the tour, the popular rock band Sister Hazel will serve as the Park’s official “rock emissaries,” and perform at the Cafes at each tour stop. Limited edition items, including Road to Myrtle Beach t-shirts and Hard Rock Park tickets will be available for purchase at each event.

Rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts in the following cities can participate in the free events at local Hard Rock Cafes:

  • New York City, April 9
  • Cleveland, April 10
  • Pittsburgh, April 11
  • Memphis, April 14
  • Nashville, April 15
  • Atlanta, April 17

The Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour

The tour will culminate in Myrtle Beach at the Hard Rock Park site, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on April 18 with a concert that evening featuring Sister Hazel and The Marshall Tucker Band to celebrate the official opening of the Park’s preview center. Coined the “Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour,” the preview center offers fans an interactive glimpse of rides and attractions that will make Hard Rock Park come to life like no other theme park. The Hard Rock Park Backstage Tour is also outfitted with various interactive displays as well as unique pieces of memorabilia that will be incorporated into the Park and will be open through the end of 2007 at no cost to visitors.

Carol's Gravatar If it's as big and exciting as they're making it out to be, it will definitely be a reason why we come back to Myrtle. Not sure about the daily price tag, but I figure that will ultimately settle into a figure that will work for the tourism market.

Frank Baylor's Gravatar I just wanted to let everyone know that is interested in the HRP and/or Myrtle Beach, SC that Arrowhead Grand located on the intra-coastal waterway is an upscale gated community less than one mile from the Park. Mediterranean Style architecture and the prices are right “at least for now”. Next year I’m sure will be a different story. NO IS THE TIME TO BUY. You can read and see more on Arrowhead Grand by going to www.nationallandsales.com
