Hummmmmm-a-digga, digga! The roar of a Harley starting up, the squealing of tires, the crowd gathering and smoke billowing from burning rubber. You’ve just lived through your first burnout experience, a pleasure, a delight and a staple of any successful bike week.
What is a
burnout? Well if the video and hyperlink didn’t possibly give you enough information and you still have quandaries I’d suggest heading yourself down to any biker bar this week listen for the rumble of a motor, a slight stir amongst the spectators and the wafting smoke. Less than impressed? Join the club! Yet year after year, bike after bike you’ll see crazy riders take the plunge.
Inquiring minds would love know—why burnout?
Well…to waste a set of perfectly good tires, impress hot drunk chicks and have 8 seconds of unadulterated attention from fellow biker brothers!
Least after you finish your successful burnout and women are not throwing themselves at you topless; perhaps you should just look down at your bike—
tires in shred, burnt rubber splayed across your previously shining chrome and well, perhaps they just can’t find you in all the smoke!
Why does the crowd gather to see a burnout? Personally I’m less than impressed by the stench, the smoke and the noise. I watch in order to hopefully see some idiot screw up. Blow up or drop his
brand new bike or anything else remotely
embarrassing or
amusing can happen especially when rubber is being burnt!
As a rite of passage though, every biker must at least once puff up his or her chest and ride into the pit and destroy their tire while finding their moments of glory! Oh right, and try and still look proud while straddling the bike you can’t ride because you just blew out the durned tires! Gotta love bike week!
