Myrtle Beach Joins "Mustaches for Kids"
Myrtle Beach is one of 26 cities nationwide participating in the “Mustaches for Kids” Challenge, being held Nov. 13 through Dec. 13.
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation has given $245,000 to support this nationwide mustache challenge, to inspire young men to invest time, energy and facial hair, in local public education. Mustaches for Kids chapters in Knight Foundation communities (including Myrtle Beach) are eligible to win the following prizes, which will go directly to local classrooms in their area through DonorsChoose.org:
- Matching Dollars – Any chapter that raises at least $10,000 for local classrooms will be eligible for $10,000 in matching funds.
- Chapter Raising the Most Money – $75,000 will be awarded for first place, $25,000 for second and $10,000 for third.
- Chapters with the Most Growers -- $50,000 goes to the first-place chapter, with $25,000 awarded for second and $10,000 for third.
